Sportklinik Hellersen donates to Balthasar Children's Hospice in Olpe

Employees and patients: Together for a good cause

A total of 1,072 euros was collected during a joint fundraising campaign by employees and patients of the Sportklinik Hellersen . The specialist clinic for orthopedics, trauma surgery and sports medicine recently donated this amount to the Balthasar Children's Hospice in Olpe.

"We are delighted that our employees and patients have agreed to support the Balthasar Children's Hospice and help ensure that the facility can give children a farewell in a familiar and loving atmosphere at the end of their much too short lives," says Dirk Burghaus, Chairman of the Board of the Sportklinik Hellersen . Part of the donation already has its origins in the Corona pandemic. Patients who were not able to take advantage of the training offer in the premises of the Sportklinik Hellersen , but who had already made their contribution, decided that they did not want to have it repaid, but that it should go to a good cause. Together with other donations made by employees on various occasions, a total of 1,072 euros was collected.

"We are very pleased that the Sportklinik Hellersen is supporting our work once again and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, also in the name of our small and large guests! The clinic is helping to ensure that the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice can continue to be a hostel on the journey through life for families with seriously ill children," says Rebecca Kranz, public relations officer at the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice in Olpe.

The Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice in Olpe is a second temporary home for terminally ill children and young people and their families. Here, the time spent together from the time of diagnosis onwards is shaped as meaningfully as possible, with lots of joy, joie de vivre and beautiful moments. Around 50 percent of the costs are financed by donations. This includes, for example, the stays of parents and siblings, visits by clinic clowns and therapy assistance dogs, as well as grief counseling for families from the time of diagnosis until after the death of the sick child.
